Woolgoolga to Ballina – Early Works – Wave 3

The Wave 3 Early Works Package (soft soil treatments) was constructed to allow the future upgrade of the section of HW10 Pacific Highway, Woolgoolga to Ballina between Tyndale and Maclean. The Wave 3 work package involved clearing, erosion and sediment control, foundation treatment and cut to fill operations for embankment construction. The embankment construction included permanent embankment and surcharge embankment construction for preload in soft soil areas. Ditchfield scope included cut to fill, drill and blast of cuttings, and foundation treatments for the soft soil areas on the project. During the course of the project Ditchfield moved over 2,000,000 m3 of material.
